Just Published: Trends in Newsrooms 2015

Changing practices in investigative journalism, the erosion of source protection, the rise of automated reporting, and the "gamification" of news are a few of the developments included in Trends in Newsrooms 2015, the annual report just published by the World Editors Forum, the global organization for chief editors and other senior newsroom personnel.

French Press Honored with Young Reader Prize for Charlie Hebdo Coverage

French news media have been awarded a World Young Reader Prize for their extraordinary, collective work in helping young people understand the Charlie Hebdo attacks and their implications, the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) announced Monday (20 July).

Hungarian Publishers Association Honoured for Youth Engagement Excellence

The Hungarian Publishers' Association has been designated a "Center of Youth Engagement Excellence" by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), for its innovative and strong News in Education programs that have reached more than 200,000 students in the past decade.

Houston Chronicle's Falkenberg wins 2015 Pulitzer Prize

Houston Chronicle columnist, Lisa Falkenberg, won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Commentary for her impassioned columns on the Alfred Dewayne Brown case and other columns on important social issues including immigration, and voting rights. The Pulitzer board said it honored Falkenberg for "vividly-written, groundbreaking columns about grand jury abuses that led to a wrongful conviction and other egregious problems in the legal and immigration systems." The Pulitzer is the first in the Houston Chronicle's 114 year history.
